Personal Project

Overview

Another personal project I undertook involved designing a website for my dad’s band. They are a cover band that plays local shows back home. They currently have a social media presence, but could use their own website to further promote themselves and their events.

Research

I began with a discussion of the band's overall style including what genres they typically play. From there I conducted industry research by reviewing a number of band websites that are striving for the same aesthetic. In addition I reached out to my sister for the graphic designs she had already created for them to maintain continuity with their established brand.

Design

From there I moved into sketches and site mapping. I broke down key elements necessary for a band website and their priorities. Once I was satisfied with these I moved into a full site wireframe in Axure. After many iterations of design and feedback with a small user pool, I produced final mockups using InVision Studio. I believe the end result ties in nicely with the band’s existing presence, while giving them greater reach and a simple way for venues to book them.
